Chuck Scatterday
WVU STUDENT MEDIA ALUMNI COMMITTEE MEMBER
Chuck Scatterday is the Shott Teaching Assistant Professor of Sports and Adventure Media at the WVU Reed College of Media. He is a creative leader with extensive experience in the television production industry.
During his career, he has produced thousands of hours of network television live, remote, and studio events mainly with ESPN. He has mastered making split decisions under pressure, providing hard feedback, working collaboratively, and deploying creative alternatives quickly and efficiently, with an appreciation for resources and budget.
Managers and peers say Scatterday is energetic, motivated, and positive and that he is an excellent mentor and leader to the next generation of television production specialists. In 1990-92, Chuck was the first-ever graduate assistant for U92FM. He helped run the sports department prior to that as sports director when the station first acquired the media rights to cover WVU Women's basketball.
Chuck is married to Tara (Thomas) Scatterday. They have three adult children, Allysan, Seth, and Drew plus one son-in-law, Alex. Chuck and Tara also have two golden-doodle dogs running around their Westover home, Crosby and Geno.
Scatterday enjoys hiking and exploring parts of West Virginia in his free time. If he's not producing your favorite WVU sporting event, he's liking watching it from the stands or from home.
